Brooklyn, NY – November 29 , 2018 / 3RD ETHOS Gallery is proud to announce The Grit &The Glam, a dual art exhibit by Lexi Bella and Danielle Mastrion. The exhibit features new original artworks from two of New York’s most esteemed street artists. Longtime friends and colleagues, Bella and Mastrion met years ago at an art battle. While they have worked together in the past, this is their first joint gallery show.
The Grit & The Glam / The Grit & The Glam is an exploration into the duality of beauty, a showcase of Bella and Mastrion’s individual styles that contrast and complement one another.
As street artists, Lexi and Danielle have been transforming rusted gates and old brick walls into works of art for over a decade. With The Grit & The Glam, the artists translate these experiences onto the canvas. Conceptually, the show focuses on juxtapositions of beauty; between urban and natural, decay and revival, abstraction and realism, grit and glamour. Building off one another’s strengths, Lexi and Danielle navigate layers of meaning within their art.
Lexi Bella / Raised in New Jersey, just outside of Philadelphia, Bella earned her MFA from the Pennsylvania Academy of Fine Arts in 2006. She moved to Brooklyn that same year, and has been New York based ever since. In 2012, she was crowned Art Battles World Champion in Paris. In 2014, she won a competitive grant from the National Endowment for the Arts to paint her Lower East Side Heroines Project. Additionally, She’s been featured in prominent street art festivals such as Upfest in the U.K., Colorado Crush in Denver, and most recently Pow Wow Worcester in Massachusetts. Her street art murals can be found in cities across the globe. For more information, visit her website LexiBella.com.
Danielle Mastrion / Mastrion is a Brooklyn-born, New York City based painter and muralist. She earned her BFA from the Parsons School of Design. Trained in oils, in 2012 Mastrion took her talents to aerosol and has painted murals both locally and internationally. Her global resume includes Upfest in England and the Akumal Arts Festival in Mexico. Mastrion received widespread acclaim for her mural series in her home neighborhood of Coney Island.
